The 2006 World Series features the St. Louis Cardinals and the Detroit Tigers. 38 years ago these two teams met the Cardinals had 3-1 series lead, however Detroit managed to tie series 3-3 forcing a game 7. Cardinals fans had nothing to fear because Bob Gibson was pitching. He struck out 17 Tigers in game 1 setting a World Series record. The Cardinals lost game 7 because Curt Flood misplayed a fly ball. What people don't know is that Curt Flood was blamed for the following events of 1968:

The Tet Offensive
MLK assasination
RFK assasination
Nixon being elected

Historians say the only good thing that happened in '68 was man flying around the moon, however they were supposed to land on it. Someone forgot to pack the lunar module which was blamed on Curt Flood. So the ghost of Curt Flood will get his revenge by helping the Cardinals defeat the Tigers in the World Series. The Cardinals lost game 2 because the ghost of Curt Flood hates the snow.

I had no idea! And now I know why Bob Gibson's name has come up lately, too.

But I'm left wondering, what are the ills of 2006 that history will blame on a MLB player (to be named later)?
